This is Hailey reporting for Goldilocks today. I am going to tell you about an investigation that Goldilocks was working on before she got sick. Goldilocks had to do a report on the way a bear lives. So she went to the three bears house and she knocked but no one answered. So she went in and started to look around. Finally she observed( something you can do with your senses) that there were three beds. She also inferred( an educated guess about the observation) that there were three different kinds of mattresses on each bed.This is also the IV.( the and IV means something in an experiment was changed on purpose). There were three mattresses she found and they were an air mattress, a regular mattress and a water bed,these are the levels of the IV (they are the different things the IV). She knew that the bears spent an enormous amount of time sleeping. Especially in the winter. She also knew however many hours they slept they probably ate. But do not tell the bears that O.K..The amount of time asleep was the DV and the DV is the thing in an experiment that can be measured or tested. The amount of time of sleep the bears get can be measured in hours which is the units of measure(the thing that you can measure in the DV). She had to figure out what the bears kept the same when they slept ( which are the constants and constants is the thing you keep the same in an experiment). One constant was how big the mattress was, and the second thing they most likely kept the same was the time of day the bears slept. She said " the purpose of this investigation was to determine the effect of the type of mattress on the amount of time sleeping.The purpose is the reason why you are doing an experiment. By the time she figured all of this out she was very tired and she fell asleep on the water bed. After she was asleep for 45 minutes (not as much time as the bears got to sleep) the bears got home. They found Goldilocks' clipboard and they found all of their sheets off the beds. And baby bear said someone is sleeping in my bed. So the bears woke up Goldilocks and told her to explain why she had broken into their house while they were not home and messed up their room. She explained it was for a scientific investigation and she was seeing about the way bears lived and that she was even a reporter for the Science of the Forest magazine. They finally understood what she was talking about when she said Magazine and they said could we be in it too. Goldilocks said well of course you can be in the magazine and I will even take a picture of you all. The bears told her thank you and that they needed some rest. So Goldilocks also said thank you and she left with a very huge smile on her face. And that is Goldilocks' investigation of the way bears live!
